The UFC has been ruthless from the end of last year in terms of getting rid of fighters in a quest to size up their bloated rosters. Legends like Anderson Silva, Yoel Romero, and more had to bid goodbye to the most premier MMA organization of the world. Now, the promotion has parted ways with five more fighters, with some notable names making the list.

Antonio Carlos Junior, Sarah Moras, Rhys McKee, Carlton Minus, and Anthony Ivy have all been dropped from the roster. Middleweight Antonio Carlos Junior hadn’t won in the UFC since 2018. He has lost back-to-back fights to Ian Heinisch, Uriah Hall, and Brad Tavares. The loss to Tavares at UFC 257 came as the final nail in the coffin of his UFC career.

Three welterweights, McKee, Ivy, and Minus have all been subtracted from the roster. The former Cage Warriors fighter McKee lost two back-to-back fights in 2020 to Khamzat Chimaev and Alex Morono. Minus never added to his win column in his UFC career, losing two back-to-back bouts via decision, with the latest being in December.

‘Aquaman’ Anthony Ivy too will leave the UFC without getting his hand raised. A September loss to perennial contender Bryan Barberena was his final act for the promotion.

Bantamweight fighter ‘Cheesecake’ Sarah Moras leaves the promotion after almost seven years with the company. Her 9-fight long UFC career saw her win only three times. The Invicta FC and Cage Warriors fighter certainly didn’t live up to expectations.

The UFC announced that 60 fighters will get cut

In 2020, UFC President Dana White indicated that there will be major shake-ups to the roster and as many as 20 fighters might get dropped. “We’re going to go through some serious cuts at the end of the year. About 60 cuts coming up before the first of the year.” he said, ” Our roster is very inflated right now, so we’re going to have some big cuts happening before the end of the year. Lots of names going in the next several weeks.”

It remains to be seen who else faces the same fortune in the next few months. But the president has certainly stayed true to his words.
